For the NFL Draft last year, I shared the experience with longtime friend and former high school & college teammate, Weston Richburg. Pretty rare to have someone drafted in the NFL from Bushland, TX, but to have two guys and both on the same day, well that’s really special!
The NFL Draft, it’s a unique experience. I enjoyed the process … to some point … but never want to do it again. I enjoyed the traveling to see various teams and meeting other prospects who are in your Draft class — that was pretty cool. But, the day of the NFL Draft was awful! Not knowing where I am going to live and that a phone call would decide where I was going, was nauseating. I won’t lie, there’s a little excitement, but it was also overwhelming: new town, new team, new teammates, new coach, new place to live … So, my advice to this year’s NFL Draft prospects is to just let go and let it ride, because you have no control anyway.
Keeping it real!
P.S. Memory from my agent, Craig Domann, 360 Sports LLC, “It was great seeing Crockett drafted in the 3rd round last year! He shared the moment with his longtime football buddies, Weston Richburg, who was also drafted on the same night by the Giants. What a special night for Crockett and Weston and both of their families to be together and both celebrate getting drafted on the same day!”
