The Baltimore Ravens suddenly have a great opportunity at the tight end position. Owen Daniels recently left via free agency for the Denver Broncos and Dennis Pitta dislocated his hip in 2014, for the second time in as many seasons.
The man in the best position to seize the opportunity is second-year tight end Crockett GIllmore, Ravens, who finished his rookie season with 12 catches, 151 yards and two touchdowns. The 6’6”, 251-pound tight end showed downfield burst up the seam, along with the ability to locate and secure heavily contested balls.
Baltimore Ravens owner, Steve Bisciotti has been pleased with the progress he’s seen from Gillmore. “We loved what Crockett Gillmore did for us,” Bisciotti said. “He loves to block and I think he doesn’t give himself enough credit for the kind of hands that he has. I am genuinely shocked at how he was watching him practice all year, and then seeing him perform in games.”
Gillmore has set the foundation to become a new favorite target for quarterback Joe Flacco. Gillmore states, “I am ready!” So watch for Gillmore to take control of the situation and help the Ravens fill the void at the tight end position.
